Announcing Meeting #1

Who:
What:
When:

Why:
anybody interested in making stuff (or learning how to).
whatever tickles your fancy.
April 30, 2008 - 7:00 p.m.
171-69 46 Ave (meeting hosted by Big Apple Hobbies)
because it's fun (Doh!)

MakeNYC2 is a group of regular folks who like to make things for themselves. The links below go to other similar groups started in other US cities (and Brooklyn) (:-) all of them encouraged along by Make: magazine:
  • Make:NYC.org
  • DorkbotNYC
  • Make:Philly
  • Make:DC
  • Make:SF
  • NYC Resistor
  • Future meetings will have organized demonstrations, tutorials, classes, etc. We promise nothing at all for this first meeting, except that we will have FREE PIZZA and SODA (!!!) for all Makers.

The first mettings will have none of the above, it is just an initial opportunity to meet one another and to find out where our interests lie.

There is no membership fee, no dues, parking is free, and the direction the group will take is up to you.

So come on down, bring some cool stuff you made (or cool stuff you started and never finished, (or cool stuff you thought of, but never got started on)), or whatever else tickles your fancy and tell everybody about it. (Psst.... another cool part of a group like this is that it's not just telling, but also asking. If you have a project that you can't figure out how to finish, we will have other Makers who can likely help steer you in the right direction.)

Meetings will be held at the Big Apple Hobbies hobby shop in Queens off Utopia Parkway. Please see this page for complete directions by car. Unfortunately the location is not very accessible by public transportation, but complete subway and bus direction will also be posted later tonight (April 28, 2008).

Please contact us for any questions, suggestions about this meetings, about the group in general, or anything else that puzzles you.
